What is Data Co-op?

The Data Co-op is a tool that allows us to access listings in areas that are serviced by more than one Real Estate Board in Alberta. Through the Data Co-op, members can see information on sales, showing remarks and many other features related to the properties.

It contains all current listings and 3 years of listing history. Unlike REALTOR.ca this is meant for the members and provides additional information including showing instructions, private remarks, etc.

You may have noticed that in Paragon, you won’t be able to find listings in many other municipalities – Searching in Calgary won’t show you any results at all. The Co-op isn’t nearly as comprehensive as Paragon, but it does let us access the whole province.

Why AREA released the new modernized Data Co-op on May 17, 2022.

Data Co-op, AREA’s provincial read-only database service, has been assisting members for the past 10 years. In 2021, our vendor notified AREA that the platform housing Data Co-op would be retired and no longer supported. This lack of support and outdated platform has been a significant source of user issues.  AREA sought a solution and selected Pillar9™ to deliver the new read-only Data Co-op.

This new platform boasts new features including:

1. Fully functional modern interface
2. Map and criteria-based search criteria, providing members with deeper control when searching for properties.
3. Ability to email listings to clients and complete CMAs with all the data from a single interface

Accessed by Resources > Data Co-op. You will need to log in with another set of credentials.  If this is your first time, see below for detailed steps.

How do I login to Data Co-op?
If this is your first time, follow the steps below on how to log in to the Data Co-op.

To access the Data Co-op, click on the Resources tab in Paragon. Select AREA Data Co-Op under Helpful Links.

You will be directed to the AREA website. Click AREA member login.

You will be redirected to the Sign In page where you must enter your CREA credentials. If you are having issues with logging in, please contact the CREA Helpdesk at 1-888-237-7945.

Once you have successfully logged in, click on the DATA CO-OP button in the middle of the screen to be redirected to the Pillar9 Technologies login page.

If you have never logged in to Pillar9, please contact the MLS®Helpdesk to get your username

and temporary password.

Once you have entered the temporary credentials, you will be prompted to answer a set of security questions and set up a new password.

If you already logged in to Pillar9 and do not remember your password, please call AREA at 1-800-661-0231.
