FAQ:
- How long does it take to get MLS® System listings onto my website?
- I found another Member's website that is not compliant with our Rules. What should I do?
- I found a non-Member website containing data from the RAE’s MLS® System! What should I do?
Q: How long does it take to get MLS® System listings onto my website?
A: The RAE strives to respond to any requests and subsequent communication within 48 hours of contacting us. Since there are multiple steps involving a sample solution, compliance checks, agreement signing and payment, expect a minimum of two weeks to complete and get full access. The process may be expedited if the use case that you are applying for already exists and/or the technology vendor is already a subscriber of the RAE’s MLS® System data.
***TIP! THE FASTEST WAY TO GET ACCESS TO IDX Data Feed***Most of the waiting time to get access to the data is due to compliance checks. The fastest way to get access to the data is to ensure your technology vendor’s or your solution is thoroughly prepared, and a compliant solution is presented for our review. We have a created a compliance cheat sheet, which summarizes the applicable requirements from the RAE’s Rules and Regulations, contains examples of dos and don’ts, and is the same document we use to review the solution. Take advantage of it to shorten the time from the application to go live. The compliance check sheet can be accessed at the bottom of this page. |
Q: I found another Member's website that is not compliant with our Rules. What should I do?
A: There may be several reasons why another Member’s website does not follow the rules that a RAE data feed subscriber is required to follow.
- The data displayed on the site is coming through CREA’s DDF® feed.
- While the rules for governing the use of the RAE data feed and the CREA DDF® feed are very similar, there are some differences. For example, subscribers to the RAE data feed must also give courtesy to the listing agent for listings in detail view, whereas CREA’s rules only require a brokerage name.
- The data is manually updated and not through a RAE data feed.
- The rules of using a RAE data feed are specified in the RAE’s Rules and Regulations. A member uploading the data manually is not subject to the data feed (e.g. IDX) rules. The member-owner of the website still has to follow the non-data feed parts of the rules as well as RECA’s advertising guidelines and provincial or federal regulation, if applicable.
If you suspect the reported site does not fall into the above situations and is getting data through the RAE’s data feeds, contact technology@therae.com.
Q: I found a non-Member website containing data from the RAE’s MLS® System! What should I do?
A: Many websites on the Internet contain listing data to promote the memberships’ listings. Many of these websites procure their data from CREA through the DDF® feed, instead of a direct feed from the RAE. See the bottom of the page for Non-Member Guidelines for Displaying CREA Trademarks.
