Whitelisting Email Addresses to Avoid Missing Important Messages

Sometimes email providers block or limit access to certain email addresses to reduce spam. However, legitimate emails can also get flagged as spam. To prevent this, you can whitelist important email addresses to ensure they are delivered to your inbox.

What is a Whitelist?

A whitelist ensures proper email delivery by marking senders as trusted. When you add a sender to your whitelist (or Safe Sender list), their emails won’t be blocked or flagged as spam. Conversely, blacklists block all messages from specified addresses.

Also whitelist any emails from these domains:

  • *@therae.com

  • *@crea.ca

  • *@therae.zendesk.com

Additionally, include your company or corporate domain.

How to Whitelist Emails

Below are updated steps for popular email providers and platforms. If your provider isn’t listed, search online using keywords like:

  • "How do I add a company to my email whitelist in Gmail?"

  • "How do I add an address to my email whitelist in Outlook?"

Click the name of your email provider below to be taken to the steps.

Gmail

  1. Open an email from the sender.

  2. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Filter messages like this.

  4. Click Create filter.

  5. Check Never send it to Spam and click Create filter.

Outlook
(Web & Desktop)

  1. Open an email from the sender.

  2. Click the three-dot menu or right-click the email.

  3. Select Add to Safe Senders or Create Rule.

  4. Add the sender’s email address.

  5. Save the rule or settings.

iOS Devices (iPhone/iPad)

  1. Open an email from the sender.

  2. Tap the sender’s name.

  3. Tap Create New Contact or Add to Existing Contact.

Android Devices

  1. Open an email in the default email app.

  2. Tap the sender’s image or name.

  3. Tap Add to Contacts.

Yahoo Mail

  1. Open an email from the sender.

  2. Hover over the sender’s name.

  3. Click Add to Contacts.

  4. Fill in any additional information and save.

Mac Mail

  1. Open an email from the sender.

  2. Right-click the sender’s email address.

  3. Select Add to Contacts.

Shaw Webmail

  1. Log in to Shaw Webmail.

  2. Select Preferences from the toolbar.

  3. Click Trusted Addresses in the menu.

  4. Enter the email address or domain under Trusted Addresses/Domains.

  5. Click Add, then Save.
