Not receiving some emails - Add to Whitelist

Sometimes email providers will block or limit access to certain email addresses in their attempt to limit the spam coming to your inbox.

Every email provider has spam filters that will automatically throw messages into that box. It is a good idea to check your spam inbox and if there is a message in there that you DO want to keep then select the message mark it "Not as Spam" this will add it to a Whitelist, or add that address to your contact list as all people in your contact list are by default on your Whitelist.

Whitelists help to ensure the proper delivery of emails to your inbox, when you add senders of legitimate emails to your Whitelist, also called the Approved or Safe Sender list they will not be blocked or flagged as spam in the future. An address on your Whitelist helps to ensure delivery to your inbox as it will let all messages from those listed get to your inbox.

The other side is called a Blacklist, and an address in this list means that the message will NEVER get to your inbox, this may be due to you marking an email as spam or blocking an email address. Typically, when you flag an email as "Spam", most email systems will eventually add that address to your Blacklist.

Some suggested email addresses to Whitelist:

Then include anything from these domains

  • *@therae.com
  • *@crea.ca
  • *@therae.zendesk.com
  • Plus any other domains like your company or corporate domain name.

Below is typically the information they (service provider) will request:

  • IP of Email Server: 208.93.242.50
  • MX Record: mx2.paragonmessaging.com
  • Email Sender: email@paragonmessaging.com 

Click your providers/email company below to view instructions on how to whitelist emails for several popular Internet Service Providers and email companies. If you do not see your email provider listed below, just do a simple google search with the tag words:

  • "How do I add a company to my email whitelist in Gmail"
  • "How do I add an address to my email whitelist in Outlook"

or any combination of the above words and you will get results that should help.

How to set up Gmail.

Gmail

1. Open an email from the sender that you want to whitelist.
2. Click on the little down-pointing-triangle-arrow next to “reply.”
3. Click Add [wlemail] to contacts list to finish.
Set up Yahoo.

Yahoo! Mail

1. Open the email message from the sender you want to add to your address book.
2. Click Add to contacts next to [wlemail].
3. On the Add Contact popup, add additional information if needed.
4. Click Save to finish.
Set up Windows Live.

Windows Live Hotmail

1. Open an email from the sender that you want to whitelist.
2. Click Add to contacts next to [wlemail] to finish.
Set up Microsoft Outlook.

Outlook 2007

1. Right-click on the email you received (in the list of emails).
2. Click Junk E-mail.
3. Click Add Sender to Safe Senders List to finish.

Set up Microsoft Outlook.

Outlook 2010

1. Click the Home tab.
2. Click Junk.
3. Click Junk E-mail Options.
4. Click Safe Senders.
5. Click Add.
6. Enter [wlemail] and additional information if you wish.
7. Click OK to finish.
Set up Mac Mail.

Mac Mail

1. Click Address Book.
2. Click File.
3. Click New Card.
4. Enter [wlemail] and additional information if you wish.
5. Click Edit to finish
Set up Mozilla Thunderbird for Mac.

Mozilla Thunderbird for PC

1. Click Address Book.
2. Make sure Personal Address Book is highlighted.
3. Click New Card. This will launch a New Card window that has 3 tabs: Contact, Address & Other.
4. Under Contact, enter [wlemail] and additional information if you wish.
5. Click OK to finish.
Mozilla Thunderbird for Mac
1. Click Address Book.
2. Make sure Personal Address Book is highlighted.
3. Click New Card. This will launch a New Card window that has 3 tabs: Contact, Address & Other.
4. Under Contact, enter [wlemail] and additional information if you wish.
5. Click OK to finish
Setting it up in Apple.

iOS Devices – iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch 

1. On any message, tap the sender and add to either a new contact or an existing contact:The Apple set up screen
Setting it up in Android.

Android Devices – Samsung, Google Nexus, others

1. In the default email client, touch the picture of the sender.
2. Click OK to add to contacts.

Shaw Webmail

  1. Go to Shaw Webmail in your web browser
  2. Select Preferences in the toolbar at the top of your Inbox
  3. Select Trusted Addresses from the menu on the left side of the screen
  4. In the first field that appears under Trusted Addresses / Domains enter the email address or domain you want to add
  5. Select Add
  6. Select Save
